FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

YOU BRING QUESTIONS.
WE BRING UNDERSTANDING.

Make the transition from a family home easier by knowing more about the variety of senior housing and services available on our campus. Better understanding can turn the uncertainty of moving into confidence for beginning the next chapter of life.

GENERAL TOPICS

Ecumen is a Shoreview-based company that owns and operates a broad spectrum of senior housing communities across Minnesota, with a spirit of all-encompassing care, empowering individuals to live richer, fuller lives. Ecumen Lakeshore has been serving the Duluth region since 1930.

We work hard to meet the special dietary needs of residents and can accommodate most requests.

Unlike other senior housing and service providers in the Duluth area, Lakeshore offers living spaces and care services across the full spectrum of options needed by the individuals and families we serve. From out-patient to short-term in-patient care and periodic in-home services. And from honoring those with dementia to celebrating the life of a loved one in Hospice. With access to our continuum of care, you or a loved one can continue life’s journey right here on our campus.

Ecumen Lakeshore is a smoke-free community.

We know that some pets are part of the family, so we are a pet-friendly campus. In our Independent Living community, pets that meet criteria are welcome to live with residents for a one-time, non-refundable fee. For our Assisted Living and Memory Care communities, pets that meet criteria are allowed for visits to apartments and designated areas.

For our live-in and visiting pet criteria or additional information, please speak to your Ecumen representative.

An unsigned, blank copy of our Admission Agreement is available by request from the receptionist.

Please contact a Senior Living Consultant at 218-625-7100 to better understand the costs of living at Ecumen Lakeshore.

ASSISTED LIVING

Our Director of Housing is best suited to answer your questions about a possible move, availability of apartments, and how the entire moving process works. Please call our main number at 218-625-7100 and a representative will direct your call.

A lead care expert will meet with you and family members to design a care plan based on your individual needs. We work closely with families, physicians, therapists, and other care professionals to provide the best continuity of care. Our team approach to care relies on open communication to bring all disciplines together to develop the best possible outcomes for the health and well-being of our residents.

They are different in amenities, services and level of independence manageable by the resident. Our Assisted Living community offers residents a private apartment home with kitchenette, meal plan, private bathroom and a customized care plan with regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team. Our Memory Care community provides individuals experiencing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia a private room in a safe and secure environment supervised 24/7 by experts in dementia care.

These terms refer to two different kinds of senior living housing and services. What many people call a nursing home or a skilled nursing home, is what Ecumen calls long-term care, where a resident has a room, a meal plan and 24/7 care from an onsite expert care team. Lakeshore does not offer long-term care on its campus. Our Assisted Living community offers residents a private apartment home with kitchenette, meal plan, private bathroom and a customized care plan with regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team.

Home Care is designed to support otherwise independent individuals with a variety of services delivered by care experts in the recipient’s home, whether living in their private home/apartment or in our Independent Living community. When a loved one needs more continuous care than Home Care can provide, our Assisted Living community is a great option for them (and their family) because of the peace of mind that comes with a safe environment, a customized care plan and regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team.
