Ecumen is a nonprofit organization and relies on the generosity of individuals and organizations to help enrich the lives of the seniors and others we serve in the following ways, including but not limited to:
- Life enrichment programming and activities at our housing communities
- Special hospice care such as music, massage, and aromatherapy
- Affordable housing for low-income seniors
- Financial assistance for seniors who need help to remain in their homes
- Charity care for low-income people needing hospice
- Spiritual care
- Mental health support and so much more!
Your gifts provide seniors in our communities with a rich and fulfilling life, as well as comfort to their families knowing that their loved one is being cared for in the best possible manner.
Depending on how you designate your gift, the people who will benefit from your generosity include:
- People who are living in Ecumen senior communities (including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing homes)
- Low-income seniors living in affordable housing communities
- Individuals receiving home care and adult day services
- Hospice patients and their families
If you choose a specific Ecumen community or program (such as hospice) to benefit from your gift, it will be exclusively committed to that community or program.
We encourage you to make donations to benefit communities or programs that are near and dear to your heart!
If you are making a gift online and want to designate it to a specific community or program, you can select one from the drop-down menu on our website. Additional instructions for your gift can be listed in the optional section under the drop-down menu.

Ecumen communities and our hospice program are always looking for volunteers! If you are interested, reach out and we will connect you with someone who can help find a role for you at one of our communities or programs.

Gifts of appreciated stock make an excellent donation! You receive a tax deduction and are able to avoid capital gains on appreciated stock. To make a gift of stock:

- Approximate number of shares
- Date of transfer of assets
- Designation of your gift
- Stock donations don’t always include the name of the donor or their intended designation. If you communicate with us in advance, it will ensure we are able to accurately record your gift in a timely manner.

If you give online, you’ll receive a tax receipt via email. If you give in another way, you’ll get a tax receipt in the mail.

We encourage donors to make a gift in honor or memory of someone special, be it a family or friend who was cared for at one of our communities or through a program like hospice, home care, or adult day services.
Generous donations fuel our work, including engaging life enrichment activities, adaptive medical equipment, spiritual and well-being care, and mental health support.
Gifts designated for our Greatest Needs Fund provide vital resources that allow us to respond quickly to immediate challenges across our organization. In addition, each community also has a Greatest Needs Fund which provides flexible funding at specific sites.

Ecumen, like other healthcare organizations, has a strict policy against residents, patients, or family members making direct gifts to caregivers. This is to protect residents and patients from undue influence or exploitation, and to ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory obligations.
If you would like to recognize your caregiver for their exceptional work, we encourage you to make a gift to Ecumen in their honor. We will notify the caregiver of your thoughtful gift!
Indicate via writing if you are sending a check that you would like to remain anonymous. If you are giving online, you may check the “I would like this gift to remain anonymous” box. You will still receive an acknowledgement, but your name will not be listed in any Ecumen materials as a donor.
No! Ecumen does not share any donor information with other organizations, so you will never receive a solicitation from another group because of your gift to Ecumen.
