GENERAL TOPICS

The faith-based St. Benedict’s Community has served the Monticello area since 1978 and joined Ecumen in 2023. Ecumen is a Shoreview-based company that owns and operates a broad spectrum of senior housing communities across Minnesota, with a spirit of all-encompassing care, empowering individuals to live richer, fuller lives. 

We offer low-sodium and low-sugar menu options.

Ecumen St. Benedict’s Community Monticello is a smoke-free community. 

We know that pets are part of the family, so we are a pet-friendly campus. In our Independent Living and Assisted Living communities, pets that meet criteria are welcome to live with residents for a one-time, non-refundable fee. Visiting pets that meet criteria are welcome to visit residents in their apartments.

An unsigned, blank copy of our Resident Agreement is available on request.

INDEPENDENT LIVING

Included utilities: heat/AC, electric, water, trash, recycling, TV antennae with local channels, and wireless internet. 

Telephone service and cable TV are not included in the monthly service fee. 

No, there is no second occupant fee.

Vehicle parking for residents includes free outdoor parking or paid (monthly) underground heated garage with a car wash stall. Visitors are welcome to park in our surface lots throughout campus.

No. At this time we do not have additional storage available for our residents. 

You simply provide us with one calendar month notice. 

Yes, meals are available for purchase in the Gathering Place dining room. 

Residents may contract with outside agencies of their choice for home care services and assistance with personal care, therapy, and skilled nursing as needed. 

Yes, if you reside in Monticello Benedict Village independent living apartments, you will have preferred access to availability if the time comes you need care. 

Yes, a Hospitality Suite with a Queen bed and full bathroom can be reserved for use by resident guests for a nightly fee. 

What is commonly referred to as a retirement home is what we call Benedict Village independent living community, where ongoing care services are not needed, and active residents live in a private apartment with full community amenities and private parking. 

ASSISTED LIVING

Our Executive Director and our Senior Living Consultant are best suited to answer your questions about a possible move, availability of apartments, and how the entire moving process works. Please call our main number 763-295-4051 and a representative will direct your call. 

A lead care expert will meet with you and family members to design a care plan based on your individual needs. We work closely with families, physicians, therapists, and other care professionals to provide the best continuity of care. Our team approach to care relies on open communication to bring all disciplines together to develop the best possible outcomes for the health and well-being of our residents.

Our St. Benedict’s Court assisted living community offers residents a private apartment home with kitchenette, meal plan, private bathroom and a customized care plan with regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team. Also in St. Benedict’s Court, our memory care community provides individuals experiencing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia a private room in a safe and secured environment supervised 24/7 by experts in dementia care. 

They refer to two different kinds of senior living housing and services. What many people call a nursing home or a skilled nursing home, is what Ecumen calls long-term care. Long-term care is for individuals who require 24-hour care. Our campus does not offer long-term care services. Our St. Benedict’s Court assisted living community offers active residents a private apartment home with kitchenette, meal plan, private bathroom and a customized care plan with regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team. 

When a loved one needs more continuous care than Home Care services can provide, our St. Benedict’s Court assisted living community is a great option for them (and their family) because of the peace of mind that comes with a safe environment, a customized care plan and regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team.
