GREATEST NEEDS FUND
By giving to the Greatest Needs Fund, you are supporting the most immediate needs of Ecumen and the people in our care. This includes spiritual care, life enrichment activities, new medical equipment, nutrition services, staffing and training, mental health support, and more. You can designate your donation to a specific Ecumen housing community, a program like hospice or home care, or Ecumen as an organization.
Ecumen is committed to ensuring individuals have access to the care they need at the end of their life, regardless of their ability to pay. Generous donations from people like you help us provide hospice services to low-income or uninsured individuals and their families.
FAMILY HELPING FAMILY FUND
When an Ecumen team member faces an unexpected financial emergency, our Family Helping Family Fund helps support them. Here are a few examples of how the fund has been used.

MEET THE TEAM
THEY BRING VALUABLE EXPERIENCE AND INVALUABLE HEART
Our commitment to serving residents and their families starts at the top. With hands-on experience paired with genuine compassion, our leaders nurture a thriving Pathstone community that includes a growing number of team members who share a meaningful pursuit. Get to know the leaders behind our daily mission.
Annika Olson, LNHA, LALD, MBA
Assistant Executive Director
As our Assistant Executive Director, Annika is responsible for overseeing general operations of our Care Center for short-term transitional care and long-term care, as well as providing administrative support to the Care Center’s leaders and care team members. In her role, Annika gets to meet new residents and hear stories about their lives in their own words—it’s the part of her day she loves the most. When she’s not fielding questions about Care Center services, she enjoys learning about all facets of how we create a welcoming and strong community for residents and team members alike. Originally from the LaCrosse, Wisconsin area, Annika followed her heart to pursue a career at a faith-based organization and joined Ecumen Pathstone in 2024.
Annika’s favorite local amenities are not yet decided because she’s still exploring the Mankato area having recently relocated after five years living in the Twin Cities-Metro area while working on her undergraduate degree. She looks forward to finding her local faves of all kinds.
Away from work, Annika is pursuing her MBA and often dedicates her evenings and weekends to coursework. When she’s not working and studying, Annika enjoys reading and returning to Wisconsin for a restful stay at her family’s cabin.
Laura Templin
Housing Director
As a Housing Director at Pathstone, Laura is the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking a living space in our Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care communities. Her favorite aspect of work is helping prospective residents and their families find the right living space for their needs, where her extensive experience in senior housing helps guide them to confident decisions from inquiry to move-in. She also enjoys seeing residents thrive once in the community, and attributes that success to their ability to age in place at a campus that offers a full continuum of care. Originally from Le Sueur, MN, Laura joined Pathstone in 2007 because she believes in the Ecumen mission and non-profit status, and loves being part of a senior living campus that’s committed to all levels of service.
Laura loves Mankato. Her favorite local places to visit include outdoor adventures, such as walking the Minnesota River Valley Trail, attending a concert at Vetter Stone Amphitheater, and shopping Old Town.
Away from work, Laura is most likely walking her Goldendoodle when she’s not attending one of her daughter’s many tournaments (volleyball, softball) or recitals (dance), or taking in an outdoor concert.
Heather Bresser
Director of Nursing
As Director of Nursing for the Care Center, Heather leads our skilled care team and ensures regulatory compliance, while supporting quality, person-centered care. She works closely with team members, families, providers, and partners to meet the needs of our residents. A Mankato native, Heather began her healthcare journey as a nursing assistant and EMT before becoming a nurse, focusing much of her career on senior care. She joined Ecumen in 2022 and is passionate about serving older adults through a holistic, Montessori-inspired approach that aligns with Ecumen’s values.
Away from work, Heather enjoys family time, traveling, reading, and exploring local gems—from hidden restaurants to State Parks and Schmidt’s Meat Market in Nicollet.
Kayla Lee
Clinical Director
As Clinical Director, Kayla leads our care team while ensuring regulatory compliance across our full continuum of services. She works closely with staff, residents, and families to support compassionate, high-quality care. Originally from Mankato, MN, Kayla brings a strong background in medical-surgical, trauma, hospice, geriatric, and case management nursing. She joined Ecumen as a Nurse Manager in 2025 and now oversees Assisted Living and Memory Care. Passionate about aging services, she values the dedication her team brings to the Ecumen Pathstone community every day.
Away from work, Kayla enjoys kayaking on area lakes with her family, hiking local parks with her dogs Walter and Winston, and sipping London Fogs at the Coffee Hag. A proud mom of five, you’ll often find her at the ballfield or cheering from the bleachers. She also serves on the Nursing Advisory Board at Bethany Lutheran College.
Jodi Meyer
Senior Living Consultant
As the Senior Living Consultant at Ecumen Pathstone, Jodi Meyer serves as the first point of contact for individuals and families exploring Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care options. Jodi enjoys guiding families through this important life transition—from the initial tour to move-in day—working to make the process as smooth and reassuring as possible. One of the most rewarding parts of her role is seeing residents settle in and truly make Ecumen Pathstone their home.
Originally from Raymond, MN, Jodi joined Ecumen Pathstone in 2024 after six years in hospice care. A Mankato resident for over 15 years, Jodi enjoys supporting local, family-owned restaurants, attending outdoor concerts, and cheering on the Moondogs baseball team.
Away from work, Jodi loves traveling and spending time at the lake with family and friends.
Marti Titus, TRS (Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
Community Life Director
BIOGRAPHY
As our Community Life Director, Marti is responsible for overseeing our life enrichment programming, social services, transportation, and Adult Day services for the Mankato (Pathstone) and St. Peter (Prairie Hill & Sand Prairie) communities. Working directly with people seeking care services, Marti’s team of experts are an important resource for connecting individuals to the services that help them live in their home longer and transition gradually into the Pathstone community. Her team is also a trusted resource for county case managers who support individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illness diagnosis, including their family caregivers who often seek respite services. The opportunity to serve people of all ages, diagnosis, and abilities is what fills Marti’s cup. Originally from Fulda, MN, Marti grew up volunteering at Banana BINGO, the daughter of a Licensed Practical Nurse working in Long-Term Care. As she planned her 720-hour college practicum, Marti chose Ecumen Pathstone to gain the greatest variety of experience from our full continuum of care. In 2012, days after finishing her practicum, Marti joined the Adult Day services team at Pathstone, and she now counts our campus as her home away from home.
Marti’s favorite local amenities are the walking trails in and around the Elysian and greater Mankato area. She also likes to support local businesses and loves to see the small business districts in the area growing successfully.
Away from work, Marti likes to travel with her husband and spend time outdoors, where she can often be found walking her dog, paddling her kayak, or reading in a hammock.

A lead care expert will meet with you and family members to design a care plan based on your individual needs. We work closely with families, physicians, therapists, and other care professionals to provide the best continuity of care. Our team approach to care relies on open communication to bring all disciplines together to develop the best possible outcomes for the health and well-being of our residents.
HOW IS ASSISTED LIVING DIFFERENT THAN MEMORY CARE?
They are different in amenities, services and level of independence manageable by the resident. Our Assisted Living community offers residents a private apartment home with kitchenette, meal plan, private bathroom and a customized care plan with regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team. Our Memory Care community provides individuals experiencing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia a private room in a safe and secured environment supervised 24/7 by experts in dementia care.
IS A NURSING HOME THE SAME AS ASSISTED LIVING?
They refer to two different kinds of senior living housing and services. What many people call a nursing home or a skilled nursing home is what we call our Long-Term Care community, where we provide residents a room, meal plan and 24/7 care from an onsite expert care team. Our Assisted Living community offers residents a private apartment home with kitchenette, meal plan, private bathroom and a customized care plan with regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team.
WHEN SHOULD MY PARENT CHOOSE ASSISTED LIVING OVER HOME CARE?
Home Care is designed to support otherwise independent individuals with a variety of services delivered by care experts in the recipient’s home, whether living in their private home or in our Independent Living community. When a loved one needs more continuous care than Home Care can provide, our Assisted Living community is a great option for them (and you) because of the peace of mind that comes with a safe environment, a customized care plan and regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team.
MEMORY CARE
HOW IS MEMORY CARE DIFFERENT THAN ASSISTED LIVING?
They are different in amenities, services and level of independence manageable by the resident. Our Memory Care community provides individuals experiencing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia a private room in a safe and secured environment supervised 24/7 by experts in dementia care. Our Assisted Living community offers residents a private apartment home with kitchenette, meal plan, private bathroom and a customized care plan with regularly scheduled visits from an onsite expert care team.

SHORT-TERM TRANSITIONAL CARE
DO YOU OFFER REHAB OR REHABILITATION SERVICES?
Yes, we call it Short-Term Transitional Care, where individuals recovering from a procedure, surgery or injury stay in-patient with us in a private room for convenient access to experts from a range of disciplines, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, and nutrition.
HOW IS SKILLED NURSING DIFFERENT THAN SHORT-TERM TRANSITIONAL CARE?
Skilled Nursing is a common term that refers to services we provide in our Long-Term Care community, where residents who need around-the-clock care have a room, a meal plan and 24/7 assistance and expert care from an onsite team of compassionate caregivers. Whereas, our Short-Term Transitional Care is a place for individuals who are recovering from a procedure, surgery or injury to rehab in-patient with us for convenient access to a variety of expert care providers.
LONG-TERM CARE
IS A NURSING HOME THE SAME THING AS A REST HOME?
Yes, they are both throwback names for senior housing and services for individuals who require around-the-clock assistance and care. We call this a Long-Term Care community, where licensed nurses are available 24/7 and regularly attend to individuals in our care.

This is a common name for what we call a Long-Term Care community, which is more descriptive of the experience for individuals in our care and the expert care teams who engage with them throughout the day.
