Holocaust Survivor's Baseball Game Wish Finally Gets Granted
89-year-old Hermina Hirsch fulfilled her lifelong wish on May 21, when she sang the national anthem before the Detroit Tigers game. Hirsch, who is originally from Czechoslovakia, spent time in five different concentration camps, including Auschwitz, when she was 17 years old. Hirsch's granddaughter recalls the importance of the national anthem to her grandmother. "It's one of her favorite songs just because she's so patriotic,' she said.
