The Classic at Hillcrest Greens Senior Living Community Now Open in Altoona, Wisc.
The Classic at Hillcrest Greens in Altoona, Wisc., managed by Ecumen, is now open and new residents are starting to move in.
“We’re so excited to open our doors,” said Natalie Robarge, sales and marketing manager at The Classic. “We’re busy scheduling move-ins, taking deposits and giving tours. Now that construction is complete, we are able to conduct tours of the entire building and grounds.”
The dining room is open and already has hosted family events, according to Dining Director Steve Knowlton, a prominent area chef (profiled here). Chef Knowlton’s menus emphasize fresh locally sourced ingredients.
The new community is located at 2455 Sawgrass Place in Altoona. It includes 99 rental apartments for people 55 and older — 63 designated for independent or assisted living residents and 36 for memory care residents. The memory care building is attached to the main building and has a separate entrance and secure courtyard.
The Classic has numerous common spaces including a spa/salon, exercise/yoga studio, bistro, chapel, game room and a two-story lounge area with a view overlooking a wooded area and bluff. Located on the former Hillcrest Golf & Country Club, The Classic senior complex is part of the Hillcrest Greens master-planned neighborhood, an intergenerational development that also includes single family housing, bay homes and townhomes on more than 178 acres of pristine woodlands and scenic rolling hills.
The community is adjacent to more than 65 acres of public park, with 6,000 feet of frontage on Otter Creek (a Wisconsin Class II Trout Stream), 3.5 miles of bike and walking trails and sidewalks, three ponds and park amenities that include a playground area, a pavilion, basketball court, pickle ball court, and a putting/chipping green.
Locally owned Rooney Properties is the developer of the Hillcrest Greens, and Heartland Contractors, a Rooney company, is the builder of The Classic, which will be managed by Ecumen. Ecumen, based in Shoreview, Minn., is one of largest non-profit providers of senior housing and aging services in the nation.
